RC&A Acquired Aerial Imagery of Recent Flood and Tornado Damage
RC&A of the Carolinas Performs Aerial Survey of Tornado Damage in Alabama
Albertville, Alabama (April 2010) – RC&A of the Carolinas was subcontracted by G-Squared, LLC to perform an aerial survey of damage caused by an EF3 tornado that touched down in Albertville, AL. Images were acquired within days of the tornado activity. Miraculously no fatalities were reported in the Albertville area, but 33 were injured.
RC&A operated a Piper Navajo equipped with an Intergraph Digital Mapping Camera to collect the imagery. A total of 235 exposures were taken of the area at a ground sample distance of 5.639 inches. Airborne GPS and IMU data were also collected.

Aerial Imagery of Flooding in Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee (May 2010) – Over the weekend of May1st, Nashville TN received over 11 inches of rain, causing lakes, stream, creeks and small rivers to swell and drain into the Cumberland River. The Cumberland River overflowed its banks and rose to more than 3 and a half meters above flood stage, which is the highest it has been since 1937. Hundreds of people had to be rescued by boats and several deaths were attributed to the flooding.
RC&A of the Carolinas collected aerial imagery of the flooded areas in Nashville as a subcontractor to G-Squared, LLC. A total of 646 images were collected using an Intergraph Digital Mapping Camera at a ground sample distance of 5.52 inches. Airborne GPS and IMU data were also collected.
