RC&A Purchases Second DMC
September 2008 We are pleased to announce the acquisition of our second Intergraph Digital Mapping Camera (DMC). Operating two DMCs will enable us to better accommodate our clients by providing more digital capability. We have been very satisfied with the results coming from our first DMC. Recent large projects include Sampson, Cumberland and Robeson counties in North Carolina as well as a large portion of the Ontario Province in Canada. RC&A Surveys Boston and New York City for Sanborn Colorado
This Summer RC&A was subcontracted by Sanborn Colorado to acquire imagery of areas in New York City and Boston, MA. The New York flights have also included parts of Long Island. There are various requirements for each area, which included photo scales of 1”=800’, 1”=1600’, and 1”=2000. Upon completion there will be almost 4,000 color images taken as well as IMU data of both cities. The imagery is intended for web based mapping projects.

NOAA Flights
RC&A continues to be involved with the NOAA shoreline mapping projects. The areas flown include the Rappahannock River in VA, Salisbury, MD and Cape Charles, VA shorelines.
The aerial imagery collected for NOAA is used to create coastal survey maps and nautical charts. Knowing the exact location of shorelines is extremely important because it is used as a source to define the boundaries between private, state, and federal ownership. Nautical charts are used to determine marine and maritime limits. Aerial shoreline imagery is also used for many other reasons including coastal management, natural resource identification, waterfront development, measuring water depth, topographic mapping, etc.
